Eileen Hull Valentine Box

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today the Sizzix design team is having a blog hop to celebrating the new collection from Eileen Hull "From the Heart". We had all kinds of fun with Eileen's dies. Be sure to check out everyones projects. They are AMAZING! 

This box is just right for a treat for someone special! It's the perfect size for a cupcake.

First let's work on the flowers. Die cut 6 layers of fabric with the Eileen Hull 3-D Fringed Flower die. The fabric will die cut a little sharper if you use a piece of card stock on top of the fabric.

 Stamp the fabric pieces with a water proof ink. I used Sepia Archival Ink for the flower. The stamp is from the Tim Holtz Attic Treasures set.

Once the ink is dry stack the flowers in a pile. 

Spritz the edge with water. The water will help the Stain soak into the fabric.

Apply some Worn Lipstick Distress Stain directly on your craft sheet. Soak the stain up into the edges of the flowers.

Lay out a single layer of flowers and start to dry with a Heat Tool.

 As the flowers dry scrunch them up.

 Keep drying and scrunching.

 To put the flowers together. Take a long fastener and open the prongs and insert a piece of white string. Close the prongs back together.

 Insert the long fastener or brad into the center of all the flowers. Spread the prong apart at the back of the flower.

 Thread a button on the the string.

 Tie the button on and trim the excess ends off.

 Repeat to make all three flowers. One of each size. I love the dimension and texture the fabric give the flowers. They will be perfect for our box.

Now for the box. Die cut 2 box pieces from Manilla card stock using the Eileen Hull Square Box die. I love the size of this box and the way the die is designed you don't need a extra large machine like the Pro. Not that there is anything wrong with that.The Pro is on my wish list.

We need some masks. 4 to be exact. Die cut the heart from the Movers and Shapers Heart die using Eclipes paper or a Post-it-Note that is sticky all over the back of the note.

Position the heart shape on the panels of the box. Notice the position of the hearts.

Using the same stamp as we used on the flowers create the background. Stamp the image with Tea Dye Distress ink. You will need to stamp several times. As you can see I turn the stamp to make it interesting. The mask will keep the background stamp from appearing in the heart area.

 Ink the box pieces with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and a little Vintage photo around the edges using an Ink Blending tool.

Remove the mask and see the magic. 

Use the outer mask and color the inside of the heart with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on an Ink Blending tool.

Take a peek to see if you like the color and if the mask was lined up well. If your mask was a little off like mine, just reposition and color the heart again.

With the mask still in place paint the heart area with Glue and Seal (matte finish).

While the glue is still wet, pour Clear Rock Candy Dry Distress Glitter over the heart area. I love the sparkle that it gives.

I also painted a very thin layer of glue on the outer edges of each panel and added Clear Rock Candy Distress Dry Glitter. Shake off the excess glitter.

Assembling the box is easy. Add Red Line tape to the 3 tabs. The top flap will not have adhesive.

 Adhere the box together as shown in the picture above. 

Adhere the 2 remaining tabs to create the box. 

Don't you just love the detail of the heart with the sugar coating.

 Die cut both hearts from the Movers and Shapers Heart die set using Manilla card stock. Color the hearts with Worn Lipstick Distress ink and edge with Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Add some Chit Chat Seasonal words. Don't forget to ink the edges of your words.

Paint the hearts with Glue and Seal and add Clear Rock Candy Distress Dry Glitter over the hearts. Shake off the excess glitter.

Give some shape to the doily by making some folds in it.  

Decorate the top of your box. Start by adhering the doily first, add the flowers, tie a bow with some white ribbon and tuck the bow into the flowers. Then add your hearts.
