Halloween Configuration Book Part 2

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the awesome comments, you're the best. I'm glad your back for the next step of our Halloween configurations book.

Today we are going to line all the little boxes on the inside of our book. Don't you love the black and white Laboratorie papers!

I cut the papers as follows
1- 4 5/8 x 6 3/8"
2 - 3 5/8" x 3 5/8"
3 - 3 5/8" x 4 5/8"
3 - 2 3/4" x 3 5/8"
3 - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"
Please note that the boxes are all hand made and may vary a little bit in size. Just trim the paper as necessary. How did I arrive at these measurements? Just measure the width plus 1 1/4" (5/8" x  2 for the height) of the boxes. then do the length plus 1 1/4".

Score all 4 edges 5/8" from the outer edge. Fold all the score lines.

 Cut the corners out.

I like to create an overlap at the corners as shown.

Add an "X" with Glue 'n Seal on the bottom of the box to adhere the paper to line the box.

Continue glueing until all the boxes are lined.

Now for the tissue tape. Choose one of the wider tissue tapes. I like to tissue tape all the boxes individually so you can still move the boxes around as you create.

Start on the outside of the box and position the tape so the overlap will be approximately the same on both sides.

Fold the tape down on the outside of the box first.

Using a craft knife or scissors trim the tissue tape at the corners. Fold the tape to the inside of the boxes.

Tissue tape the opposing side. Burnish the tissue tape between your fingers. This will heat the glue and help it to stick.

Tissue tape the other two sides.

Tissue tape all the little boxes. DO NOT glue the boxes down at the time. We need to install the mini lantern first.

Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink.
Now we're ready for what I call the fun part! Decorating!

So....I thought it would be fun to see everyones project along the way. At the bottom of this post you can upload YOUR project. How exciting is that!
I'll be randomly picking winners from the these uploads.
I can't wait to see your projects.

I'll be back Friday for the next step!

Even in this state it looks fabulous!! Great papers and great tapes but a patient talented artist makes them really shine. :D

Finished part 2 last night. I didn't have the Laboratorie tissue tape, so I rummaged through my box of tissue tapes. I found some 7 Gypsies gaffer tape Floral, Cosmo Cricket washi tape Ruler, and Ideology tissue tape Elements. My tissue taping skills are getting better with each configuration project. I was very pleased with the look of the gaffer tape. The floral pattern is yellow on black tape, and when I folded it in half over the box edges, it looked like Dia de las Muertes skulls. It's thicker than tissue tape, so it did make it harder for the boxes to fit in the book. I was pleasantly surprised that the Vintage Photo ink actually shows up on black tape. It definitely makes everything look spookier. I am enjoying this project so much. I am posting my project pics on my Facebook wall (with a link to your blog, of course).
