Vinyl Zipper Pouches with Tim Holtz Palette Fabrics

Hello friends! If you're looking to make a project bag to stay organized this is the project for you! These Vinyl Zipper Pouches are the perfect pouches to hold all your things wether you're a stamper, crafter or sewer you will love them. And look how beautiful they are using the Palette Fabrics by Tim Holtz. I've used the Palette Fabrics in Indigo, Green and Yellow but they would look beautiful in any of the Palette fabrics. Each pouch uses the Ticket fabric for the front fabric, the Collage fabrics for the backs and the Vintage fabric for the bindings.

Gather your supplies and cut all your pieces out according to the pattern.

Layer and quilt the main piece.

Add the binding to the vinyl piece.          Use a glue stick to position the zipper to vinyl.

Working with vinyl can be a little tricky so here are a few tricks I use.
You can use a Teflon foot for your machine or add painter tape to the bottom of the foot so the vinyl doesn't drag.
If the vinyl is against the bed of the machine you can add a piece of paper or fabric under it so it doesn't stick. Keep the paper or fabric piece away from where your sewing so it doesn't get sewn into your project.

Sew the binding from the back side.

Wrap the binding around to the front and topstitch close to the edge.

Vinyl pouches are great for holding thread, scissors, tools and your WIP (work in progress).
The sky is the limit when it comes to storage possibilities.

Here is the back side with the Palette Collage Fabrics.

If you're going to have storage bags they should be pretty!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy sewing!

Moody Blues Duffle Bag with Tim Holtz Palette Fabric

Hello friends! Since I made a duffle bag using the warm colors I thought it would be fun to create one with some of the cool colors. I've used the Tim Holtz Palette Fabrics in Teal, Blue and Indigo for this Duffle Bag. The Pattern is by Knot and Thread and is beginner friendly. Don't let the zipper fool you it's pretty easy to install and Kaitlyn from Knot and Thread has videos to walk you through the whole process.
This project is Fat Quarter friendly but you'll need yardage for the lining (blue script) and accent color (indigo vintage).

The Moody Blue Duffle Bag
Fabric - Palette Fabrics in Teal, Blue and Indigo by Tim Holtz
Pattern - Patchwork Duffle by Knot and Thread

Cut the squares from the 3 colors.        Arrange the squares as desired.

Prepare your layers for quilting.

Quilt panels as desired. I've quilted 1/4" from all the seams.

Create the end panels as instructed.

Add the binding and take a victory lap to seal the stitching around all the edges.

I added a pocket to the inside.

Make the handles.               Sew the handles to the main bag piece.

Install the zipper and don't forget to hold it in position with a glue stick.
This is a great tip for helping hold the zipper in place.

Sew the ends of the duffle bag and use lots of clips or pins to hold it in place. Take your time and go slow.

Attach binding to the edges on the end panels. I use a stiletto to help guide things into the sewing machine.

And just like that your finished.

I love how the blues work so well together.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy sewing!

Double Zip Gear Bag 2.0 with Tim Holtz Palette Fabric in Indigo

Hello friends! I can hardly believe it's already August. Our project today is a great travel/gear case or for holding your tool for crafting or sewing. And let's talk about this gorgeous floral! The Tim Holtz Palette in Indigo has 10 beautiful prints from light to dark and has Typography, Florals, Tickets, Maps and more. I was really drawn to the Palette Wallpaper (floral) for the outside, Palette Tapestry for the lining and the deep dark Palette Vintage for accents. I love how the fabric shows off the Double Zip Gear Bag 2.0 Patterns by Annie. the pattern comes in 3 sizes and I've used the medium for our project today.

Don't you love this Palette Indigo Wallpaper (floral). GORGEOUS!
I love all the zipper pocket this bag has to offer.
So helpful to stay organized.

It's also a great size at 5"H x 10 1/2"W x 7"D

Here are some highlights for sewing the bag.
Gather your supplies and cut all the pieces out. I love that Patterns by Annie has little labels for all the pieces. So helpful to keep things straight.

Layer your pieces for quilting.         Quilt as desired. I used a 1 1/4" grid.

Cut the pieces from the quilted pieces.

Create the pockets by sewing the binding on and adding the zippers.

Sew mess pockets to the inside of the main piece.

Sew zipper pockets to the exterior of the bag.

Create the center flap by adding the zippers and lining.
Round corners of the end pieces and add Velcro and strap to end.

Sew the center flap to the main body oof the bad.

Add the binding to the ends turn rightsize out and you're all done.

The outside features a zipper pocket on each side.
Double zipper in the middle for easy access.

The inside has mess pocket on each side for holding smaller items.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy Sewing!
