Mini Rainbow Case with Palette Fabrics by Tim Holtz

Hello friends! I back today with a Mini Rainbow Case using Palette Fabrics by Tim Holtz. I love all the little fussy cut pieces like the flowers, bird and butterflies. You could also make this case from one piece of fabric or you can mix up the colors. I also think the Palette Collage fabrics would be great. The case can be used for all kinds of thing. It's perfect for holding your Mini Blending Brushes from the latest release from Tim, sewing supplies and it would be fun to put a set of cards in it as a gift!
The possibilities are endless with Palette Fabrics.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut 10 squares from each color for a total of 60 - 1 1/2" squares.
I've used Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue from the Palette Collection by Tim Holtz.
I also like to fussy ct images from the Collage fabric like the green bird and the yellow butterfly.

Sew the pieces together in rows then sew the rows together.

Press the seams well with an iron.

Layer the batting in between your pieced squares and your backing.

I use spray glue to hold my layers together. You could also use pins.
Quilt as desired.

Square up you quilted piece. This should measure approximately 10 1/2" x 6 1/2".

Position the interfacing to one side on the wrong side of the flap fabric.

Fold the flap right sides together lengthwise and clip or pin together.
Make a mark 1/2" in from the side at the fold.
Make another mark 1/4" in from the side at the other end.
Draw a line from mark to mark.
This will create the shape for the flap.

Sew on the line, clip the corner, turn right side out and press.
Topstitch 1/8" around the edge of the flap.

Iron binding in half, sew to the top edge of the Vinyl,
wrap around the top edge and the top stitch 1/8" from the edge.

Position Vinyl Pocket and Upper Flap and clip in place.
Iron binding in half lengthwise and sew to the back side.

Add the elastic piece to the front and stitch close to the edge.
Fold the binding around to the front and top stitch 1/8" from the edges.

Stitch through the Vinyl at the center to create a divided pocket.

Hand sew the button to the front and be sure not to sew through the vinyl pocket.

The Archie Backpack with Palette Fabrics by Tim Holtz

Hello friends! Meet my Sunshine Backpack AKA Archie Backpack. Blue and Yellow from the Palette Collection to me is pure sunshine and happiness. I have always loved this color combo. The Archie Backpack pattern is by Knot and Thread. I really like using her patterns as they are easy to follow and she also has some videos from her sew a long that's going on right now.

I'm so happy with my fabric choices for the backpack.
The Palette BLUE Vintage for the body of the backpack, the BLUE stamps for the front pocket and a little YELLOW Vintage for accent were the perfect choices. The inside has a few more fabric which you'll see below like the YELLOW Map and the YELLOW Tiny Print.

This shows all the pieces quilted and ready to start making the backpack.

Next I added the binding and zippers.

Here are the inside pockets.
The yellow pockets are slip pockets and the blue pocket is for a computer (it's even padded).

Next up I made the straps and handle, cut the shape of the backpack and added the side tabs.

Adding the sides takes lots of clips and sewing slowly is the key. I also use a stiletto to help keep the layers in place as I sew.

Here's a few detail photos of the finished Backpack.

I also added a little piece from the Collage fabric for a fun detail.
Don't you just love the stitching between the stamp fabric?

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Happy sewing!

Bucket Organizers - Palette Blue Fabrics by Tim Holtz

Hello Friends! Who doesn't LOVE pretty storage for organizing?! Choose your favorite print or you can create a patchwork of goodness.

Palette BLUE designed by Tim Holtz

Cut out all the pieces according to the instructions. I created a patchwork for my Bucket by cutting several square to 4 1/4" and sewed them together. I adjusted the pattern just a little to acomidat the size of the patchwork. When cutting the front and back pieces I center the pattern side to side and lined up the top edge.

Apply Fusible Woven Interfacing to the back of all the pieces.

Sew sides to the front and back.

Use pinking shears to trim the seam allowance.

Turn right side out, don't forget to leave an opening to turn the project.  Repeat with lining.

Turn right side out.

Topstitch 1/8" from the top edge.
Position handles and felt.

Stitch around felt 1/8" from edges.

Now all you need to do is fill them up!

Happy sewing!
